Lord of Abydos

Lord of Abydos

Book I: The Chronicles of Isis and Osiris

LORD OF ABYDOS — set in mythological KEMET (Egypt) 5000 years before the first pharaoh against a backdrop of a country enmeshed in savagery, starvation, and corruption — chronicles an epic tale of a love so powerful it conquers death as it follows the harrowing path to divinity.

ISET (Isis), a princess of Kemet and a mistress of heka (magic), falls in love with ASAR (Osiris), the forward-thinking Lord of Abydos; he shares her compassion and desire to save their country. Unfortunately, Iset is already betrothed to her ruthless cousin, SETI, the mortal son of RA, King of the Gods. Seti and Ra see Iset as Seti's stepping stone to the throne.

When deadly family ambitions and malevolent gods join forces to ban their love and destroy their beloved country, Iset and Asar declare war. By recruiting an army from their afflicted countrymen and unleashing Iset's heka, they establish ma'at (a spiritual ideal of cosmic justice) in Kemet. The golden age they create and rule as King and Queen exacts a cost more heartbreaking than they can imagine when a misstep by Iset places their fate in Seti's hands and costs Asar his life.
