From movies to best-selling novels, it’s easy to conjure a list of authors, filmmakers, photographers and artists who have found inspiration in the country’s ancient and modern cultural heritage.

While it may come as a surprise to many, authors in particular have always had a fondness for writing about Egypt as they chronicle their travels, sail the Nile, and visit archaeological sites.
